How often does a pressure system need examining?

PSSR sets no national interval. The frequency is fixed by your Written Scheme of Examination, which a competent person draws up for the specific system - commonly somewhere between 12 and 48 months depending on the item and its duty, with the external and internal examinations often on different cycles. The scheme is the authority.

What is a Written Scheme of Examination?

It's the document that sets out which parts of your pressure system must be examined, how, and how often. PSSR requires one before the system is used, and it has to be drawn up or certified by a competent person. We can write yours and then examine to it.

Do I need a scheme before the system is used?

Yes. Under Reg 8 you must have a Written Scheme of Examination in place before a relevant pressure system is operated, and the examinations under Reg 9 follow it.

What happens if something fails the examination?
