Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) are a set of regulations used to ensure that work equipment is being used safely throughout the UK.
The regulations are designed to protect the health and safety of employees along with anyone who may be affected by the use of work equipment. PUWER applies to a huge range of equipment. This includes tools, vehicles, appliances and a host of other equipment.
Under PUWER Regulation 6 it states that every employer shall ensure that work equipment exposed to conditions causing deterioration which is liable to result in dangerous situations is inspected at suitable intervals and each time that exceptional circumstances, which are liable to jeopardise the safety of the work equipment have occurred.
